Nuclear proof adhesive to stick down wallpaper to plastic permanently

2021.12.07 17:51 Shapingdestiny Nuclear proof adhesive to stick down wallpaper to plastic permanently

I hope someone might be able to point me in the right direction for what I'm looking for. I want to layer some cut wallpaper shapes onto polycarbonate sheets but want the strongest bond possible. I'd like it so that even if someone were to try and pick at the exposed edges of the wallpaper, it wouldn't come off. Is there anything anyone can suggest that might fit the bill?
Thank you!

2021.12.07 17:51 Aurelianshitlist Just finished Elder Empire for the first time (Spoilers All Willverse incl. Reaper)

So I read Cradle for the first time about a year ago, and have read it through two more times since. It is really just on its own level. I read Traveler's Gate earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Other than the TG short stories, which I haven't gotten to yet, Elder Empire is the last thing I have read by Will.
I don't see a ton of EE discussion on here, so I figured I would post my own thoughts/views/theories and anyone who is interested in discussing these or their own thoughts on EE can do so here.
Thoughts on the Format:
I would say this is a really good trilogy. I know its six books, but IMO it's really a trilogy just collated in a different way. That's probably my biggest minor issue with the books, is that I think they would have worked even better if the POVs had been interspersed rather than in separate books.
When I read the first two respective books, I enjoyed the format, but once I knew the characters on both sides, I kind of resented when events from one series were spoiled in the other. While the concept of the two dueling trilogies is cool, I think the novelty wasn't worth the drawbacks.
For the last books of each, I ended up swapping back and forth between the audiobooks whenever an interaction occurred, and I think this gave me the most enjoyment. Honestly I kind of think a guide on the best times to swap back and forth for the whole trilogy to minimize spoilers would be pretty cool. The final battle felt sort of like a Sanderlanche when I did it this way.
Thoughts on the World
I really love the setting and the concept of Asylum. The magic system is also really cool, though I note that because this isn't really progression fantasy like Will's other books, we don't get to learn as much about how it works. Most of the new advancements the MCs make are outside of their own knowledge, so we aren't getting specific rules or systems to explain how these things work. Personally I really enjoyed a Will book like this, as it allowed him to focus a bit more on worldbuilding rather than just magical theory.
I loved the concept of the prison planet, the Elders, the Regents, and the Emperor. I do wish that the Emperor's dark tendencies, which are hinted at in Calder's first book, ended up being more. The final "reveal" of these, that he treated mortal humans as disposable, was a bit of a let down. Calder seemed to have felt really disturbing things from reading the Emperor's items, so I was surprised that it wasn't something more sinister that Shera would have to deal with finding out at some point.
The government structure and politics of the Empire really intrigued me. I love the idea of the guilds (I started a book with a state with a similar structure a few years ago - maybe this will inspire me to get back at it). It was nice to have a fantasy series where there isn't just a standard primogeniture ruling family or warlords. It makes sense as well given the history of rising up against the Elders, needing to have one unified human nation but also provide some sort of separate entities to compete against one another.
One thing I would have liked to learn more about is the specifics of the mechanisms of Asylum. From what I could get from reading via audio, the Elders used to essentially be tyrants who used humanity as their slaves. However, the world was sealed to the extent that they couldn't escape. There was mention that the Elders needed to keep the human population at a certain level, so this was like a built in "feature" of the planet. The Emperor and other Regents overthrew the tyrannical Elders and sealed them away, but then created methods that could later be used by the Elders to break out (the throne, I don't know how to spell it since I listened). This is a really cool turn of events and I would love if there was some more discussion of it in-world as it's super ironic. It's also interesting to think of the fact that the Abidan set this up in the first place, as they essentially created a slave world to keep these Elders busy, with the inhabitants as unwilling guinea pigs. Would love to hear Ozriel's thoughts on this.
Thoughts on the Characters
One random thing I noted is that both the MCs share a lot of similarities with Locke Lamora. Spoilers here if you haven't read Locke Lamora.
For Shera, her childhood involved living with a bunch of children, used as assassin's by an eccentric man, who lived in a secret lair. This is abruptly ended and she is taken away to work for another criminal. This is very similar to Locke's early childhood working as a thief for an old man who has a secret lair under a graveyard.
For Calder, he spends his youth as a con-artist/thief with his father. This is similar to Locke once he joins Chains' gang. Further, both of them have a wife who ends up being a mysterious antagonist.
No criticism of these similarities, as they're all very standard fantasy tropes and both authors use them well. Just thought it was interesting that we have two main protagonists and they both share similar backstories to a single character from another popular recent fantasy work.
I really liked Calder's story and felt like his motivations really matched his backstory and personality. Shera I felt was a bit more one-dimensional, and I didn't really think her "broken emotions" thing added much to her character. It seemed like it was going to be a very important aspect of her in the first book, but outside of it being mentioned a lot, I didn't really see any evidence of this "issue" from her actions. To me, she seemed like a pretty normal person who is a bit more logical than emotional. She seems to have recovered pretty nicely from having been a trained killer when she was a little kid.
Meia I think was a really good character and I wish we got to see more of her. Her relationship with her mother, and the toll her enhancements took on her, could have been explored more. I think of the secondary characters, Meia and Andel could have gotten a lot more screen time.
I also really hope Will continues with these characters' and this world's stories. Whether they link into the larger world, or we get more Asylum novels with Calder, Shera, and Meia (I want more of Meia). Both Shera and Calder, especially Calder, had cliffhangery endings. I really identified with Calder as a reader so I would like to know if he is still himself when he wakes up, and what happens to the Empire.
Connections to Willverse (Spoilers for Reaper which are included in my Spoiler Tag)
I loved that I read this after knowing that E=O. I know there are conflicting opinions, and a theory that O is Lindon during his appearance in Elder Empire, but I really think he is Eithan here and that his actions and words really reflect Eithan. I kind of want a short story or something from Eithan's POV for all of these events at some point, including his battle with the Elder.
I think it's pretty clear that the "Regents" are on a level close to being able to ascend, as are the guild heads, Calder, and Meia, and probably some of the Champions. However, I would like to see what the Abidan policies are with regard to these individuals. Clearly they need people in Asylum at this level to contain the Elders in the Empire's state, however, the world has also produced some powerful individuals. The fact that not even the Emperor seemed to know much about the outside world makes it clear that this world isn't used for Abidan candidates like Cradle is. That being said, I really hope we get to see Calder and Shera (or Meia, who I liked as a Shadow character better than Shera). I was wondering what level people would compare the individuals on Asylum to in terms of comparable Cradle level. I assume the Emperor is below Monarch, since he needs his throne to see things on different parts of a small world, but maybe he's somewhere around Herald? Would that put the Regents at Archlord and the Guild heads at Overlord?
Anyways, thoughts on EE or anything I mention here??

2021.12.07 17:51 TheKajuun $GRAB appears 52% Short - Fidelity today says 0.52% Short, erroneously shifting 2 decimals from yesterday.

Fidelity is most likely broken since they only added Short interest data last week and are off from everyone else by exactly 2 decimals. But I thought I should post today's insane number: 0.52%...
Assuming it is pulling accurate data and merely displaying it incorrectly as one would deduce, then the shown increase today would become 52% Short for $GRAB!

2021.12.07 17:51 Gaiu3Octavius To the dude near the rexall outfront waterfront station:

Bless you!
Earlier today, I was heading to my final exam for environmental chemistry. I was running late; no time for a shower or coffee before I left home. Upon getting to waterfront, I ran into the rexall right next to the station entrance to grab a redbull. On my way out, a gent stopped me asking if I wanted to buy a joint for $5. I could see it was in the doob tube, maybe from the dispensary right across the street. I said "sorry man, I would, but I've got no cash". So he gave it to me anyways saying "you smoke? Ah, of course you do, here take it". Absolutely made my day! Now I'm going to smoke this joint after confidently completing my final.
If you see this dude, you've a heart of gold! I'll be sure to pay it forward next time I've got a spare joint!
