2021.12.07 18:31 trust_me_on_that_one How to think in more critically in Python?

I just completed one of the 100 days of Code assigmments and it was the rock paper scissors game.
Took me over an hour to figure it out and after testing it out, I was damn proud that it worked as intended.
After watching the solution video, it turns out I could have just written in 24 lines instead of 47 and could have avoided abusing the if statement. I think for me the most embarrassing part was that it didn't even occur to me 2 > 1 > 0 and that I could also have used == or >.
My code:

#DONT CHANGE import random number_input = input("What do you choose? Type 0 for Rock, 1 for Paper or 2 for Scissors.\n") #CODE BELOW playlist = ["ROCK", "PAPER", "SCISSORS"] computer_choice = random.randint(0, 2) irock = (f"You picked: {playlist[0]}") ipaper = (f"You picked: {playlist[1]}") iscissors = (f"You picked: {playlist[2]}") win = "\nYou win!" tie = "\nYou tie. Try again!" lose = "\nYou lose. Try again!" if number_input == str("0"): print(irock) print(f"Computer picked: {playlist[computer_choice]}") if computer_choice == 0: print(tie) if computer_choice == 1: print(lose) if computer_choice == 2: print(win) elif number_input == str("1"): print(ipaper) print(f"Computer picked: {playlist[computer_choice]}") if computer_choice == 0: print(win) if computer_choice == 1: print(tie) if computer_choice == 2: print(lose) elif number_input == str("2"): print(iscissors) print(f"Computer picked: {playlist[computer_choice]}") if computer_choice == 0: print(lose) if computer_choice == 1: print(win) if computer_choice == 2: print(tie)
Their code:
#DONT CHANGE import random user_choice = int(input("What do you choose? Type 0 for Rock, 1 for Paper or 2 for Scissors.\n")) #CODE BELOW gamelist = ["ROCK", "PAPER", "SCISSORS"] print(f"You chose: {gamelist[user_choice]}") computer_choice = random.randint(0,2) print(f"Computer chose: {gamelist[computer_choice]}") if computer_choice > user_choice: print("You lose!") elif computer_choice == user_choice: print("You tie!") elif user_choice == 0 and computer_choice == 2: print("You win!") elif user_choice > computer_choice: print("You win!") else: print("Invalid choice. You lose.")

I see people saying theyve sold their bitcoin(s) for ridiculous amounts. Who is buying them? Why? Why has their value gone up so much? Why did people buy them in the first place? Were they able to actually be USED for something? Thanks in advance!

2021.12.07 18:31 AlternativePerfect17 Crazy Treasures

The only complaint I have with Melinda's vlogs are she records a segment for eternity, lol When she was playing with Max's dog out back, we watched it for a good 5 min, if she is showing a tree with lights, she records it forever.. those are just examples, I love her and Scarlett though and enjoy her vlogs, just get bored when segments go forever lol

2021.12.07 18:31 FweFwee Traditional IRA exempt

Hi - Was hoping to have someone speak for experience or someone that is familiar. I know as a first home owner buyer, I can exempt up to 10k from the 10% penalty but my question is:
If I cash out now December 2021, and not purchase a home till early 2022, would this not be exempt?
How can I prove this exemption while filing tax?
Should I wait to withdraw until I’m close to closing a place?
Thank you all in advance!

2021.12.07 18:31 SincerelyStamped A real neighbor from hell..

I met a guy and at first we hit it off great. He then became my boyfriend and we was together for about a month. Within 3 weeks, my boyfriend became friends with a neighbor in my apartments. This neighbor is in a relationship with a man who also lives with him. This neighbor is also very intimidating
He’ll sit outside all day with Coors beers and basically gossip about everyone that’ll pass by or he doesn’t like. Well he has now added my ex boyfriend to his little circle, when my boyfriend and I was together my boyfriend would hardly speak. He would acknowledge me and all, but I noticed he would just be quiet. There would be times were he’d go in my neighbors house for hours at a time. Getting drunk etc. that’s when I started to think my ex was gay.
My neighbor would get himself and his little group drunk until the end of the day and then that would be when my ex would finally come upstairs with me. Of course, from all the beer he would drink he’d be sleep in an hour tops. That’s when I started bugging. I asked nicely to stop spending so much time with my neighbor and to spend more time with me!
He would argue about how he didn’t see a problem with kick it with my toxic gay neighbor and getting drunk all day everyday. Then we started arguing about this at least 3 times a week. Fast forward to now. I have cussed my ex through text, called him gay etc. he then started talking smack about me.
He got me in the jugular, he said some pretty fowl s*** that hurt my feelings. So now we’re broken up. I’m depressed and pissed off at the same time. He’s here every single day now sitting outside in the front starting at 9:00am.
It’s intimidating.. every time I walk past them they get quiet. Every time I walk past the neighbors door to get to my apartment they’ll slam the door loud and obnoxiously… it’s just bs. I don’t know how I go about this, what should I do?
